- Description
- The Client:
A government department client is looking for a Programme Director to join them on a 12 month contract. This position will be based in London/ Hybrid.
Job Summary:
This is for a £170m+ multi-year programme to replace the existing collaborative IT service for 13,000 users across HMG with a modern, sovereign, cloud-first platform. The Programme Director is accountable for delivery, risk, schedule, cost, scope, supplier performance, and RUN protection. Reporting jointly to the SRO and Service Director, this role ensures programme deliverables meet future user needs while ensuring service continuity for the existing user base.
This is a hands-on leadership role in a politically visible, cross-government transformation with evolving requirements, constrained funding, and a multi-supplier ecosystem. Every decision—commercial, architectural, operational—must balance two priorities: protect today while building for tomorrow. Service continuity and seamless migration on time and within budget is non-negotiable.
Must-Have Experience:
- 15+ years leading large-scale IT transformation programmes (£100m+).
- Cloud migration expertise (Azure, AWS, GCP, sovereign cloud).
- Delivery in secure or regulated environments (government, defence, CNI).
- Multi-supplier management and SIAM-style integration.
- Dual-run complexity and legacy-to-cloud transitions.
- Strong architecture and technical understanding; able to challenge design decisions.
- Exceptional programme controls discipline (RAID, cost, forecasting, critical path).
An active DV clearance is required for this role. At a minimum, candidates must be eligible and willing to undergo security clearance. Due to the short-term nature of the contract and the urgency of the requirement, the client may prioritise applicants who already hold active DV clearance and meet all essential criteria.
