- The Client:
A government department client is looking for a Project Manager to join them on a 15 month contract. This position will be based in Newcastle/ Hybrid.
Job Summary:
We are the Programme Project Delivery team (PPD), creating a better place through excellence in project and programme management. The hub is led by a Delivery Manager overseeing 70-120 staff, supported by Programme Specialists, Programme Managers and Project Team Managers (PTM).
Each PTM manages Project Executives, Project Managers and Project Support Officers who manage the delivery of projects within our flood& coastal erosion risk management programme using our framework suppliers.
Essential criteria:
- Essentials – candidates MUST have infrastructure experience so railway, construction, highways, water, nuclear etc and they must live locally.
- Proven experience in project delivery and contract management, ideally within engineering, construction and/or flood & coastal risk management.
- Effective at communicating with a wide range of people, as well as interpersonal and influencing skills to build collaborative relationships.
- Confident and proficient using MS office (teams, excel, word, project etc).
- Active management of health, safety and wellbeing.
Desirable criteria:
- Highly desirable - Experience of working with FastDraft, Projects Online, NEC4 contracts & Chartered membership of a professional body such as ICE, APM or CIWEM.
- Experience of working with FastDraft, Projects Online, NEC4 contracts.
- Chartered membership of a professional body such as ICE, APM or CIWEM.
- A degree (or equivalent) in an engineering, environmental or geography related discipline.
- Technical expertise in areas such as asset management, business case development, cost monitoring/forecasting, scope preparation, CDM, engineering design and construction and river modelling.
Capabilities required to be demonstrated by the role, include:

- Communicates effectively.

- Takes decisions and solves problems.
An active SC clearance is required for this role. At a minimum, candidates must be eligible and willing to undergo security clearance. Due to the short-term nature of the contract and the urgency of the requirement, the client may prioritise applicants who already hold active SC clearance and meet all essential criteria.
