- The Client:
A government client is looking for a Senior Security Engineer to join them on a 2 month contract. The role offers hybrid working and can be based anywhere within the UK.
Job Summary:
The workload for our Security Operations function is increasing as they have to deal with more alerts and incidents, without the benefit of automation and analytics to reduce the manual effort and improve the response time. Moreover, we have to comply with the increasing Government standards and expectations for security monitoring, such as the Cyber Assessment Framework and the Minimum Cyber Security Standard. Justice Digital are prioritising GovAssure assessments for all critical services which include security monitoring compliance checks. Justice Digital have collaborated on the creation of, and are ensuring strategic alignment to the client's Cyber Strategy.
There is lack of internal capability in terms of security resources with skillset to deliver this as this is a new initiative from Justice Digital. The resources requested in this business case underpin our ability to:
- Implement, configure, and manage Palo Alto Networks XSIAM platform to ensure optimal performance and security.
- Develop and maintain security policies, rules, and configurations to enhance threat detection and response capabilities.
- Integrate XSIAM with other security tools and information systems to automate security operations and workflows.
- Conduct continuous monitoring and analysis of security alerts and incidents to identify trends and potential threats.
- Coordinate with internal teams and external partners to share threat intelligence and improve overall security awareness.
- Provide technical support and guidance on cybersecurity matters to IT and business units.
- Stay up-to-date with emerging security threats, technologies, and Palo Alto Networks' offerings to continuously improve security operations.
- Prepare and present reports on security incidents, trends, and the overall effectiveness of security measures to senior management. These resources supplement existing resources within the MIP and SOC teams.
An active SC clearance is required for this role. At a minimum, candidates must be eligible and willing to undergo security clearance. Due to the short-term nature of the contract and the urgency of the requirement, the client may prioritise applicants who already hold active SC clearance and meet all essential criteria.
