- The Client:
A government client is looking for a Supply Chain Officer to join them on a 10 month contract. This position will be based in Corsham/ Hybrid.
Job Summary:
We provide digital and technology services to our Armed Forces, ensuring they can operate securely via radio, satellite, and the internet. Operating at scale, with an annual budget in excess of £2Bn and a diverse team of 2,500 colleagues, we're aiming to make our Armed Forces some of the most technologically advanced in the world. To do that we're growing our capabilities in disciplines like data science, automation and cyber security.
The SATCOM Programme is responsible for the sustainment and development of the MOD's strategic, worldwide communications capability and is preparing to take over responsibility for managing the capability from Sept 2022, when the current SKYNET 5 Private Finance Initiative contract expires. The SATCOM Delivery Team is tasked with ensuring continuity of the required capability and its future development in order to satisfy the ever-increasing demand for defence communications and to defeat the growing array of sophisticated threats.
Responsibilities
To support key activities contributing to operational Supply Chain Management (SCM) across Inventory Management, Supplier Management, Demand Management and Performance Management activities. Reporting to Assistant Head of Logistics.
We are looking for a Supply Chain Officer to undertake the following tasks:
- Review established processes and provide recommendations to implement changes and create new processes, as identified, across the Supply Chain Team.
- Analyse data (in excel) to understand consumption rates, supply chain upstream support risks (including obsolescence risks), working with PMs and other stakeholders to understand impact.
- Work with ILS to ensure SCM transition to in service activity is delivered ahead of In service date. This is to include MoD system set up, Certificates of conformity, GFE loans registers - created and verified in conjunction with GFE manager and Codification activity.
- Work with CLS vendors to ensure alignment and delivery to contractual deliverables and KPIs
- Work collaboratively with CLS vendors to mitigate and manage upstream Supply Chain risks. Manage repair activity and ensure CoC and GFE records updated.
- Maintenance of Supply Chain Data – ensuring accuracy of all supply chain information across MoD systems including utilisation of HIMA dashboard.
- Create reporting with SCM team for senior management on a quarterly basis.
- Collaborate with key stakeholders, including but not limited to Finance, ILS, PMs, Front Line Commands and vendors, to ensure policy compliance across Supply Chain
- Operate effectively across the key operational SCM areas of Inventory Management, Supplier Management, Demand Management and Performance Management. Liaise with internal and external stakeholders on stock availability, material requirements and procurement issues for the ranges of equipment they have responsibility for.

Qualifications & Skills:
- Experience of working in a delivery environment, delivering SCM disciplines within a large, complex organisation
- Experience working in Defence Supply Chain – Essential
- Experience delivering supply chain within project management – Essential
- Operates with reasonable guidance and clear processes and instruction- Essential
- Motivated individual that shows initiative and judgement – Essential
- Level 3 SCM pathway achieved – Desirable.
- Experience of working in a GFE project team – Desirable
An active SC clearance is required for this role. At a minimum, candidates must be eligible and willing to undergo security clearance. Due to the short-term nature of the contract and the urgency of the requirement, the client may prioritise applicants who already hold active SC clearance and meet all essential criteria.
