Our government department client is looking for a Senior Advisor to join them on a 3 year contract. This position will be hybrid, London.
Â
Job Summary:
- Deep expertise on competition and competitiveness issues affecting UK banks and insurers, and with expertise about how these issues relate to the drivers of economic growth.
- Support policy and supervision colleagues across our organisation, providing independent advice and challenge to help us assess topics that impact on competition, competitiveness, and growth. This will include providing advice and guidance to our senior executives and the CQI team on key challenges which firms are facing, working closely with colleagues who are developing policy, undertaking research, or supervising on matters where the secondary objectives are engaged.
- Build and maintain key external relationships, including relevant stakeholders in industry, other international regulators and academics working on the topic.
- A deep understanding of the economics and the practical application of regulation including competition regulation, and the impact of regulation on economic activity.
- Familiarity with the workings of financial services and markets and competition policy.
- Extensive experience of advising on competition issues including at senior executive and/or board level.
- An understanding of the our objectives, and its regulatory and supervisory approach, and the ability to help assess the interlinkages between prudential regulation, competition, economic growth and international competitiveness.
- Familiarity with the concepts and framework relating to capital / risk / as set out by the PRA, the Bank of England and Financial Conduct Authority.
- A strong external network and profile of using economic expertise at a very senior level in academia, a commercial setting, or a policymaking environment.
