Key tasks and deliverables
We need user research capacity to carry out waves of user research to prepare us for coming phases of the System Integration Programme. For example, we are currently in Alpha B phase looking at how we manage information about intervention in academies and schools. The next phase, Alpha C, will look at applications to become and academy or a free school. We intend to start the user research for this element in May ahead of the work actually starting on Alpha C, so as to allow enough time to engage with external users ahead of the end of the academic year
Experience Required
• Experienced user researcher, with demonstrable experience of designing and delivering effective user research to successful government projects;
• Able to work effectively with a team made up of DfE staff and a third party supplier, to deliver to shared goals;
• Able to work in a highly Agile way in order to gain a rapid and progressively-deep understanding of the needs of academies, free schools and multi-academy trusts but also internal DfE staff.
• Professional and able to communicate effectively with internal staff and external users about the research and to gain commitment to the project.
