This role is required to Define, Design, Develop, Pilot, Implement, Run, Sustain and Improve a Software Asset Management (SAM) Function for the BATCIS’s multi-vendor environment. Functionally aligned to In Service Support, this role will span both the development and in-service spheres developing and managing capabilities’ Software requirements through life. This is a strategic and operational role looking to set the conditions and foundations for software asset management providing direction and insight to the Programme’s seniors whilst also helping to develop organic resource to guarantee SAM capability sustainment. This position is the key accountable role in ensuring SAM is conducted effectively and efficiently in line with the programme objectives.
Experience in leading a SAM capability discovery exercise and subsequently supporting the development of a measured and tailored governance structure for software management which support a programmatic approach.
Experience in leading the creation of the SAM elements of the wider Software Management strategy.
Have experience in contributing to the System Integrator’s SOR for Software Management.
Be able to provide secretarial support to the BATCIS Software Management Group
Understanding and an ability to develop multi-vendor Licence Management Policy and subsequent high-level Process Map / Value Streams and business process libraries.
Demonstrable experience in Investigating and publishing an endorsed software configuration baseline for capabilities (including an audit of existing software estate/licence holdings).
Investigate and create/adopt a single database of software.
Be able to manage database/records of software End User Licence Agreement (EULAs) and T&Cs
Contribute to capability’s TLMPs to ensure sufficient provision for software support.
Adhere to capabilities’ TLMPs provision for software management.
Develop organic capability to ensure SAM capability sustainment.
Develop procedures and training content.
Design and lead software forecasting battle rhythm.
Manage the software forecasting battle rhythm raising and successfully managing risks and conflicts to successful outcomes / outputs as required.
Be responsible for day to day operational activities and making it happen. Expediting, de-risking, facilitating and delivering the final output.
Act as the SPOC for all software service requests matching demand and supply.
Maintain Learning from Experience (LFE) Log.
Conduct and analyse software utilisation second line audits in support of SAM governance.
Support projects in any matters relating to SAM including, but not limited to:
Review of draft Software Management Plans and other software related CDRL documents/supplier deliverables.
Software selection and licencing implications on wider BATCIS capabilities.
Identify Organisation / People, Technology and Information requirements.
Consider existing policies, constraints / issues / priorities to design a practical solution.
Develop software transition plans for new capabilities.
Develop tactical implementation plan and reporting.
Pilot / trial and revise.
Implement, run and improve (effective day to day operational management).
Essential
Demonstrable experience working within a software asset management role on MoD or Government projects
An experienced SME within the Software world
