- The Client:
A government department client is looking for a Commercial Officer to join them on a 12 month contract. This position will be in Salisbury/ Fareham/ Hybrid.
Job Summary:
The successful candidate will be responsible for: sourcing, sales and contract management. The role provides working level support for Divisions, operating as a supervised practitioner in their area of responsibility and can have delegations which include: sourcing, contract management, or sales.
Essential:
- Identifying the most suitable commercial approach to the circumstance, including assessing the potential trade-offs and the level of risk mitigation required to achieve the best commercial outcome.
- Applying commercial skills and judgement through analysis of evidence and appropriate risk-taking.
- Taking ownership of decisions at tender evaluation stage and applying commercial expertise and judgement accordingly.
- Understanding and applying tools to monitor supplier performance, cost analysis, and contract related management information systems.
- You have worked in a Commercial role which has enabled you to work independently on sourcing, procurement, and contract management activities.
- Have achieved professional competencies either through relevant commercial experience combined with commercial qualifications or preferably at or working towards MCIPS.
- Has a passion to work in a fast-paced Commercial environment.
- The skills to think ahead and plan own workload.
- Proven communications skills and ability to work in collaboration with colleagues, project staff and engage suppliers as part of contract negotiations.
- The ability to develop and seek out cost effective options.
- The ability to seek and implement opportunities for improved service delivery and efficiencies.
Desirable:
- Research/development/purchasing background.
- Defence/public sector background.
