- The Client:
A government department client is looking for a Head – Financial Reporting and Accounting to join them on a 6 month contract. This position will be in London, Bristol, Coventry, Crawley, Leeds, Liverpool, Manchester or Newcastle/ Hybrid.
Job Summary:
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead financial setup for a new subsidiary and bank (National Housing Bank).
- Design and implement financial reporting structures and processes.
- Ensure compliance with accounting standards (IFRS, FReM) and external reporting requirements.
- Collaborate with internal teams including Senior Manager, Tax Manager, and auditors.
- Provide leadership and build a robust financial reporting function.
- Prepare technical papers and briefings for senior stakeholders.
Essential Skills & Experience:
- Strong technical accountancy knowledge (including IFRS).
- Experience in year-end accounts closure and group accounting.
- Leadership experience in financial reporting within large/complex organisations.
- Advanced Excel and analytical skills.
- Excellent communication and report writing abilities.
Desirable Skills:
- Knowledge of government accounting (resource accounting and budgeting).
- Experience in public sector or housing/property sector.
- Understanding of tax compliance (VAT, Corporation Tax).
Qualifications:
- ACA qualified accountant required.
- Relevant experience may be considered in lieu of formal qualifications.
