Job Description: Test Automation Engineer
Role: Test Automation Engineer
Project Title: Geo-Production
Location: Southampton
Duration of post if applicable: 6 months
OS daily charge rate: £550-£580
IR35 Status: In scope
Project Detail: The Geo-Production programme will develop and implement the next generation geospatial production platform as a replacement of the existing GDMS system
Detailed Services to be provided (specifically, the Deliverables and, if appropriate, specification)
We are looking for a proactive and technical Test Automation Engineer to join our test community to drive the test automation and performance activities within an agile delivery team as part of a large geospatial investment programme.
Define and drive test practices and provide test assurance by developing and maintaining the integration automation test framework in a test-first environment.
Required to collaborate across multiple delivery teams to meet the requirements and ambitions of our stakeholders, whist contributing to effective agile delivery.
This role includes daily management of Azure test pipelines, developing the test framework, regular contact with stakeholders, tech leads and team members to understand functional and non-functional requirements and design BDD test scenarios against a web service API according to the acceptance criteria.
Regular participation in team estimation activities identifying opportunities to maximise test benefit within the team.
Report to and provide regular updates to the Programme Test Lead as well as provide mentoring and coaching to team members regarding test automation good practices.
Responsible for developing the integration test automation framework using public cloud architecture and on-premise systems.
Provide assurance at team retrospectives and planning sessions to ensure good practice, continual improvements and appropriate standards are adhered to.
Experience:
This is a technical role and requires expert knowledge of building and maintaining test automation frameworks in a CI/CD environment in the cloud.
Proven experience of delivering automated test frameworks (Python) in a test-first CI/CD environment is essential
Experience of maintaining test automation pipelines is essential, preferably in Azure DevOps
Proven analytical skills, designing and implementing BDD feature files for functional and non-functional test activities is essential
Data test experience, particularly with ETL systems
Familiarity with RESTful interface testing
Demonstrate experience of testing on public cloud platform
Behaviours:

Coaching and mentoring experience
Excellent verbal and written communication skills with ability to effectively communicate with stakeholders and customers
Technologies:
Proven technical skills in one or more of the following tools is essential: Azure DevOps, Cucumber, JMeter, Postman, Selenium WebDriver
Working knowledge of programming languages and frameworks such as: JavaScript, Python, SQL, Visual Studio
