- The Client:
A government client is looking for a Physical Security Lead to join them on a 6 month contract. This position will be based in Darlington, Manchester or Sheffield/ Hybrid.
Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly self driven and motivated person to deliver complex remote work autonomously. While travel to individual sites is not required, the candidate must be available and flexible to meet with the Operational Security Manager as required to align on strategy and progress.
The primary focus of this role is to work with the Operational Security Manager to critically review and comprehensively rewrite existing physical security risk assessments and register risk across multiple locations. Ensuring they are fit for purpose, standardised, and fully compliant with organisational guidelines. This role requires a strategic thinker who can elevate our existing documentation, utilise established protective security risk management models and apply threat, risk and vulnerability operationally.
In addition, the role holder must have a working knowledge of managing the security supply chain, have written and designed incident management plans and have the ability to translate complex threat landscapes into actionable operational procedures.
- Risk Assessment Remediation: Critically evaluate, refine, and rewrite existing physical security risk assessments across multiple sites to ensure total organisational compliance and operational readiness. Identify operational vulnerabilities within current documentation and close those gaps.
- Risk Scoring & Mitigation: Review historical and current site data to apply accurate, standardised risk scoring. Document control measures and mitigation strategies to lower residual risk exposure.
- Strategic Threat Analysis: Evaluate and translate threat intelligence and target attractiveness across various geographic locations, applying these insights at a strategic level to ensure assessments reflect the true threat landscape.
- Incident Management & Supply Chain Security: Develop, write, and refine Incident Management Plans with a specific focus on supply chain security.
- Operational Integration: Ensure incident management plans and security protocols are accurately reflected in supply chain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and site specific Assignment Instructions (AIs).
- Required Skills & Experience
- Risk Assessment Writing & Auditing: Proven ability to audit, upgrade, and rewrite complex physical security risk assessments based on existing data and reports.
- Compliance & Quality Assurance: A strong eye for detail with a track record of aligning security documentation to strict organisational standards and policies.
- Core Concepts: Deep, practical understanding of the distinctions between threat, vulnerability, and risk, and the ability to articulate these clearly in formal documentation.
- Protective Security Models: Hands on experience working with recognised protective security risk management frameworks to standardise outputs. Including writing Risk Statements to evidence risk management processes.
- Supply Chain Resilience: Demonstrated experience in supply chain security management and complexity of working across multiple stakeholders.
- Technical Writing: Exceptional written communication skills, specifically in drafting high level risk registers. risk management reports and Incident Management Plans.
- Strategic Thinking: Ability to zoom out and view target attractiveness and threats holistically across a multi-site portfolio to ensure consistency across all rewritten assessments.
An active SC clearance is required for this role. At a minimum, candidates must be eligible and willing to undergo security clearance. Due to the short-term nature of the contract and the urgency of the requirement, the client may prioritise applicants who already hold active SC clearance and meet all essential criteria.
