- The Client:
A government client is looking for a Commercial Officer to join them on a 6 month contract. This position will be remote with adhoc travel to Liverpool/ London.
Job Summary:
On behalf of the client, we are looking for a Commercial Officer for a 4-month contract working on a hybrid basis and with an expectation of 2 days attendance in the Liverpool / London offices.
The client is the largest public procurement organisation in the UK.
As a trading fund and executive agency of the Cabinet Office, we implement procurement policy on behalf of the government.
We use the collective buying power of our customers and our commercial expertise to help public sector organisations achieve value for money and provide great outcomes for taxpayers.
As a Commercial Officer, your main responsibilities will be:
- Support the creation and execution of the category management strategy, which will provide the best-in-class procurement offer to government.
- Organise and develop market engagement and drive deep understanding of customer requirements and their conversion into viable commercial options.
- Embed savings methodology for the category and deliver savings targets.
- Support and develop the category’s knowledge and advise customers about commercial excellence and share knowledge and contribute to thought leadership in the category.
- Profile and develop engagement using digitalised solutions or media’s which are specifically fragmented for a diverse stakeholder community such as Small and Medium Enterprises and the Wider Public Sector.
- Review and monitor customer buying behaviours from management information to ensure the client continuously drive improvements to buying behaviours across the public sector.
- Ensure production of collateral to market and advise customers on how to buy better.
- Maintain key focus on savings, spend under management, customer service and strategic SRM.
- Liaison with stakeholders and customers on a variety of levels to support the promotion of new commercial products and initiatives/procurement strategy via working groups, customer meetings, trade events, seminars, exhibitions and other events.
- Liaise with Account Managers and other relevant personnel to ensure “one client voice”. Support and coordinate initiatives that develop the sub-category offering.

Essential:
- Experience and knowledge of PCR 2015.
- Experience of working with a portfolio of Stakeholders.
- Supplier management experience.
- Public Sector experience.
- Experience of handling complex agreements Public sector procurement experience/ contract management/ stakeholder engagement/ PCR 2015, Knowledge of PA2023/ worked in professional services procurement/ contract management background.
This is a officer level role and is a support role but the candidate will be working independently supporting the contract leads. It’s a fantastic opportunity to support the the client on a complex contract they manage on behalf of the public sector.
