Job Description:
Key accountabilities and responsibilities
1. Collect, manage, clean, organise and aggregate data to provide insights and intelligence to support decision making across the agency.
2. Work with Data and Digital colleagues to ensure that data models and structures used in internal and external applications and services are fit for purpose and follow agreed data standards.
3. Maintain, expand and continually review the core data assets and environment, manage new and existing data updates, and publish intelligence to make it accessible while continuing to improve data workflows, automation and cross-system connectivity.
4. Implement agreed standards (e.g. information security, data quality) to ensure developed intelligence and data can be easily interpreted by others and adopt appropriate change management processes for data and systems changes and manage associated risk.
5. Support the maintenance and development of a range of core services, automating data pipelines and supplying information to support the agency through its core activities, performance monitoring and opportunity evaluation.
6. Become a technical point of contact for specific data categories and intelligence services (e.g. location, partner, financial), having a full understanding of the data we hold, limitations and use across the agency.
7. Work closely with stakeholders to define data requirements, design and create prototypes.
8.Actively participate in a data practitioner community of interest, sharing knowledge and industry best practice with others
9. Actively contribute to the work across the Digital team to develop self-service analytical and reporting capabilities
Key skills and knowledge
Experience
Experience of data modelling and visualisation tools – Power BI expertise a must.
Proven working experience working with SQL and relational data systems
Proven experience working with large and complex data environments
Evidence of adaptability; able to learn new technologies and methodologies quickly.
Demonstrable experience in a role that includes problem solving, analytical and logical skills.
Able to translate business need into technical solutions
Demonstrated ability to develop robust enterprise solutions within timelines.
Knowledge of Power Platform / Dataverse
Skills
Efficiently collecting, manipulating and presenting large and complex datasets
Data modelling, data cleansing, and data enrichment skills
Ability to write complex DAX/M Code
Predictive Analytics – Ability to extract information from existing data sets in order to determine patterns trends for future outcomes to enable forecasting or scenario planning.
Designing and building data infrastructure/automated reporting tools
Comfortable giving definition to ambiguous problems, can do this independently with limited guidance
Verbal/written communication & data presentation skills, including experience of effectively communicating with both business and technical teams
Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organise, analyse, and disseminate significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy
Quality assurance, validation and data linkage abilities
Ability to translate and visualise data into impactful reports and visualisations to enable insight and decision making, in a clear and compelling way.
