Summary of the work
This is a specialist technical development role required to deliver an exceptionally high standard of code in accordance with the DVLA’s business requirements.
To work on various projects to deliver mandatory legislative changes to the central vehicles system.

Who the specialist will work with
Primarily with members of the IT Service Creation teams
What the specialist will work on
Required to undertake development work on the central vehicles management system (VSS).
The work includes technical analysis, low level design, production and unit testing of code using CA GEN.
The specialist will be allocated to specific projects (including, but may not be limited to, capture and management of Eurostatus data, changes to the calculation and collection of HGV Levy and other published budgetary changes to vehicles Excise Duty (VED) ) and make technical changes in accordance with business requirements and technical solutions. The requirements and technical solutions will be provided by DVLA’s business analysts and technical architects.
Working arrangements The nature of the work dictates the location. Access to the necessary tooling is only available onsite.
Security clearance
Must have BPSS clearance as a minimum. If SC clearance is deemed to be required during the contract length the client will sponsor the application.
Essential skills and experience
1. Provide evidence of experience (minimum of 3 years) in a CA GEN development environment.
2. Provide evidence of experience (minimum of 3 years) in delivering technical analysis.
3. Provide evidence of experience (minimum of 3 years) in assisting in requirements clarification.
4. Provide evidence of experience (minimum of 3 years) in the production of low level technical designs and documentation.
5. Provide evidence of experience (minimum of 3 years) in production and execution of unit tests.
Nice-to-have skills and experience
1. Provide evidence of experience (minimum of 3 years) of working with UNIX.
