Project Detail:
The network and its technologies underpin our day to day function, enabling all data and voice communications, data collection, and storage - both internally and externally with our staff, customers and partners in an effective, reliable and secure manner.
This role is to work within the Network Operations Team to maintain these services providing installation, configuration, administration and support of the large number of hardware and software platforms that provide voice, data, network security and cloud services.
In addition to excellent technical knowledge there is a requirement to demonstrate customer service skills, take ownership of issues and deliver results to the highest standard; results on which the organisation and our customers depend.
Description of Deliverables:
This is primarily a support, administration and maintenance back-fill role.
Specification:
CISCO Certified Network Technician (CCNA level).
Expertise supporting and maintaining Firewalls (preferably Check Point)
IP addressing and management, VLANs, routing, switching, WAN technologies, DNS, SNMP
The resource will be required to:
Follow best practices and Local Working Instructions to ensure that customer requirements and demands are consistently managed and met. This includes the management and successful resolution of incident, problem, change and requests using our ‘ticketing’ system (HEAT).
Monitor the estate and proactively respond to any alerts and monitors to minimise the impacts of any potential outage to the organisation.
Fully participate in the workings of the team, be flexible and enthusiastically take on any given task.
Experience:
Experienced Network Technician with skills in:
· Supporting and troubleshooting Cisco networks (LAN, WLAN and VoIP) to CCNA level.
· Supporting and troubleshooting Check Point Firewalls (Gaia, Cluster XL, R77.30).
· IP addressing and management, VLANs, routing, switching, WAN technologies (MPLS, PtoP, DSL), DNS, SNMP.
· Documentation and network diagrams
· Skills in coding/scripting/automation methods would be an advantage
· Any skills in Cloud technologies, Juniper SSL VPN, RSA Authentication, F5 Load Balancers would be an advantage but not essential
