Job Description: Contractor
Role: Technical Writer
Location: Headquarters in Southampton
Duration of post if applicable: 6 months 37-hour week
Daily pay rate to contractor: £350 a day
IR35 Status: In scope
Project Detail: To create supporting documentation that enables users (including developers) to understand OS data products and APIs, reducing their time to value.
These resources will be required to work/engage with:
· Data Architecture and Management
· Engineering
· Product Management
· Customer and Technical Support
· Marketing
Specification:
· Confident self-starter with proven ability to plan, develop, organise and write operational procedures, product manuals in conjunction with engineering, data and product teams.
· 5+ years’ experience in a technical writing role either in a data, software or technology business with published work across technologies such as web application / REST API / JSON / XML / Javascript / SSO
· Track record working in user-centred design working alongside developers, content designers, product managers to support product go-to-market plans and ongoing support issues.
Experience:
· Excellent communication skills and the flexibility to respond to different programme and stakeholder demands
· Expertise in developer and IT Professional audiences with deep understanding of their communications channels and ways of working
· Ability to explain complex, technical ideas in a simple way, and provide the right level of explanation for a varied audience
· Can implement a strategic approach to documentation including standardisation of communications and channels to a technical audience
· Experience in authoring good product content in various rich media to aid the user journey and educate customers
· Knowledge of Geographical Information Systems or Data Management is desirable.
