Specialist role Developer
Summary of the work
Specialist is required to work in the Public Protection Directorate Project team to develop the user stories that the BA defines based on the project. The developer will develop the User screens, micro services to interact with a locally installed database & APIs.
Required to work within security architecture guidelines.
Latest start date Monday 7 January 2019
Expected contract length 24Months total-Initial 12months-further period up to 12monthsdepending on business need & performance.

Who the specialist will work with
Specialist will be part of a Public Protection Directorate Project team working closely with the Technical Lead. Specialist will be required to work with multiple development teams and existing vendor to understand legacy and new data structures develop user screens and write micro services to manage the data in a secure environment.
What the specialist will work on
A specialist is required to work in the Public Protection Directorate Project team, working with the Tech Lead and BA to implement the user stories defined by the BA. The deliverables are the implementation of the users stories defined for the project.
To configure application, data ingest, workflow and create personalisation request.
We expect the specialist to work collaboratively with existing in-house project teams that are transforming the business processes/applications.
Service design and development must align with the HM Passport Office strategic technical architecture and technologies
Work is based in London and will involve the supplier being on site 5 days per week to work collaboratively with teams.
Travel to regional sites to be agreed, expenses incurred from travel outside of the M25/Greater London will be subject to Travel and Subsistence Policy
Security clearance DV Clearance is required. HM Passport Office will support the clearance process.
Skills and experience
Buyers will use the essential and nice-to-have skills and experience to help them evaluate suppliers’ technical competence.
Essential skills and experience
1. Have demonstrable experience of successfully delivering digital solutions that collect and manage personal and/or sensitive information with appropriate controls and protection
2. Have demonstrable hands-on experience of Java, web application development, Micro services, postgresql, Git, Jenkins, Bash Scripting and Linux
3. Experience in working Agile methodologies, TDD (Test Driven Development) and (CI & CD) Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery
4. Experience in developing SOAP and REST API consumers.
5. Experience in data encryption at rest and in transit.
Nice-to-have skills and experience
1. Have demonstrable experience of successfully and collaboratively working, coaching and sharing knowledge with Public Sector client teams, particularly those with limited agile development experience.
2. Have demonstrable hands-on experience in rules and configuration management engines.
3. Have existing, valid SC/DV Clearance
