Specialist Skills Required
The requirement is for a Commercial Specialist to be procured for a 6 month period who is able to demonstrate that they have sound public sector knowledge and experience and to have an immediate impact on arrival into the role.
The skills and attributes required are;
Ability to work efficiently in a high pressured environment and deliver to strict deadlines and targets.
Previous experience working in fast-moving project and/or programme environments with
numerous stakeholders and in delivering ambitious change agendas.
First class verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to secure the confidence of senior individuals quickly and assimilate and analyse information and communicate concisely.
Experience of successfully communicating strategic and/or commercial issues/feedback in
meaningful ways to customers and stakeholders in complex environments
The responsibilities of the role are;
Lead the development and management of senior Departmental relationships
Proactively manage assurance reviews for a portfolio of Departments
Promote functional commercial leadership and standards
Take the lead role in the investigation of low cost bids
Deliver sustainable change
Coaching and developing staff within the team and wider function
Provide timely advice to officials and Ministers on both programmes/projects and
wider Departmental delivery to commercial standards
Work across CCIT (and GCF) to assist the Deputy Director and Director to achieve
business plan objectives for the function.
Background to Team
The Commercial Continuous Improvement Team is responsible for the setting and improvement of Commercial Standards across the civil service and also to provide
Commercial Assurance of all Business Cases over the value of £10m per
transaction.
This role is imperative in the assurance side of the business ensuring that Departmental activities are commercially sound and meet policy, legal requirements and deliver value for money.
