- The Client:
A government department client is looking for a Strategic Comms Manager to join them on a 6 month contract. This position will be based UK wide/ Hybrid.
Job Summary:
- Work with a range of policy teams to provide expert communications advice and guidance to help shape and deliver public policies and services.
- Scope requirements and bring together communications specialists to develop targeted and engaging communications strategies.
- Develop communications strategies and messages with the end audience in mind using insight, past learnings and customer/stakeholder feedback.
- Work with policy leads to identify the long-term requirements and develop coherent and joined up communication proposals.
- Identify and act on any opportunities and mitigate risks.
- Line manage direct reports and matrix manage the work of colleagues across the team.
About The Candidate (specialist skills & requirements):
- Experienced comms professional, with a strong track record of communicating complex subject matter to diverse audiences.
- Track record of designing and delivering communication strategies using a wide mix of channels including digital, media, stakeholder, events and branding.
- Strong influencing skills, and experience of building positive relationships and establishing networks internally and externally with stakeholders, partners and colleagues.
- Excellent planning, management and organisational abilities.
- Experience of effectively working with and advising very senior colleagues.
- The ability to work well under pressure, managing multiple priorities and tight deadlines, whilst motivating and leading others.
- Good analytical skills, plus excellent written and oral comms skills reflecting the need to explain complex policy to non-specialist audiences in a clear and engaging way.
