- Description
- The Client:
A government client is looking for a Senior Plastics Reduction Policy Lead to join them on a 12 month contract. This position will be based in Bristol, London, Newcastle or York (3 days per week).
Job Summary:
The Plastics and Packaging Team leads producer responsibility policies through the Deposit Return Scheme (DRS) and Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR). It oversees the Producer Responsibility Organisation setup, integrates UK Government interests into PackUK, and manages dual-use reforms. The team also works to improve regulations, engage stakeholders, and reform the PRN and PERN systems to support economic growth and packaging circularity, using a system-level approach. Beyond regulation, the team advances circular packaging strategies, including single-use plastic reporting and future reduction policies. It supports initiatives like the Plastics Packaging Pact, contributes to Global Plastics Treaty talks, and ensures compliance with regulations such as the SUP ban and carrier bag rules. It promotes reusable packaging through evidence gathering, campaigns, and planning, and aligns UK regulations with EU standards via consultation and programme development.
