•Location: Leeds Quarry House OR London Victoria Street


 


•Contract Length: 6 months with possible extension


 


•Clearance Level Required: DBS/BPSS


 


•Additional Info: OUTSIDE IR35


 


Experience Required      


 


•             Previous experience of providing negotiation support, contract review and developing effective contract management processes;


 


 • Deep practical experience of using contract management tools, methods and processes;


 


 • Experience of analysing and summarising contract requirements for key stakeholders;


 


 • Significant previous experience of meeting challenging deadlines while maintaining accuracy and consistency in the creation of documentation;


 


 •            Previous experience of contract management/procurement/legal/finance field essential and applicable industry experience;


 


 •            Ability to apply commercial skills to manage and mitigate contractual risks and issues;


 


 •            An understanding of financial elements within contracts including prices/costs and supplier margins in order to consider when a contract provides best value for taxpayers whilst creating and maintaining a sustainable yet competitive commercial solution


 


Additional qualifications required for this role     


 


Candidates must have at least one of the below essential criteria.


 


 •            qualified purchasing professional (MCIPS);


 


 •            member of, or studying for membership of, the International Association for Contract and Commercial Management (IACCM);


 


 •            relevant degree, such as in law or finance, MBA;


 


 •            related industry experience.


 


Key tasks and deliverables           


 


The Contract Manager will:


 


 


 


 •            Work to tight deadlines to produce accurate, consistent and high quality contract management documentation including contract change notes and amendments to ensure all required department and business case/procurement approvals are secured or escalated to line management while ensuring that learning from existing contracts is incorporated;


 


 •            Actively ensure the robust implementation of core contract management processes including risks and issues, deliverables and change control processes. This will involve regular reviews with senior management responsible for the contract delivery;


 


 •            Work with key suppliers in order to manage contracts appropriately, obtain key supplier performance information and maintain the relationship into health;


 


 •            Effectively manage the escalation of serious or unresolved issues (through line management and other senior stakeholders) in accordance with recognised governance process;


 


 •            Analyse and consistently present complex data and information in a clear and concise manner using a range of tools to maintain robust communication with key stakeholders and highlight key risks and issues;


 


 •            To ensure that the Department communicates and measures the benefits of contract management through regular reporting of robust performance information in order to evidence continuous improvement;


 


 •            Ensure that the Department and its ALBs comply with robust, consistent and effective contract management in line with the Crown Commercial Service recommendations, the DH contract Management toolkit and central government policy;


 


 •            Provide support to designing and delivering contract management training and awareness to a range of stakeholders to increase contract management capability;


 


 •            Develop strong relationships with a range of internal and external stakeholders for example, within DH, its ALBs, across the wider NHS and in central government.
