Role: Senior Commercial Manager
Contract Length: 6 months
Location: Hybrid – WFH – At least 1 day in London office
IR35: inside
Pay Rate: Circa £465
Security Clearance: SC – must be valid, in date and has been used in the last 12 months
Department Overview:
Our team, the commercial team is embedded into the overall lifecycle of this Programme and also reports to the central commercial function. The team consists of 7 people who are led by the Commercial lead (who heads up the commercial function of the programme) and is made up of 2 senior commercial manager, 4 commercial manager. Our teams’ activities are twofold - Contract management of Technology Delivery Partner (managed by a Senior Commercial Manager) and sourcing management (managed by a Senior Commercial Manager) of all other needs to assure the programme is delivered timely and efficiently. This role is for a Senior Commercial Manager to manage all the Commercial and contract management activities related to the Technology Delivery Partner.
Job Description:
As a Senior Commercial Manager you will be reporting to the Commercial Lead who heads the commercial function of the Programme and will manage team of two Commercial Managers. You will be responsible for ensuring that the Bank has strong relationships with its key Technology Partner and manage all the contractual activities with commercial drivers. Some of the activities include but not limited to his are commercial negotiations, on time supplier payments, assuring change control process is followed as per the contractual obligations, identify risks and opportunities for the team to improve operational delivery and running quarterly surveys. The role will also provide input and MI to senior management accountable for both commercial decisions and strategic relationships.
Key accountabilities will include:
Manage team of two Commercial managers.
Full and proper monitoring of the contract to ensure delivery of key performance indicators, service level agreements and contractual obligations are met.
Develop good supplier relationship with Technology Delivery Partner assuring all the operational activities are delivered smoothly and timely.
Lead supplier performance operational activities by monitoring and evaluating their technical and behavioural performance together with lead IT delivery stakeholder.
Owner of the governance process as detailed in the contracts, and in line with best practice such as change control process, payments, Relief notes, claims, etc
Creation of valuable and timely Management Information as required, and sharing of these with team members and stakeholders as required.
Managing good supplier relationships and ensure contractual requirements and value for money is delivered.
Engaging with stakeholders and governance boards both internal and external to the Programme.
Essential Criteria
Strong Contract Management experience, in order to effectively implement and maintain best practice procedures for awarded contracts.
Knowledge of project lifecycle with a particular focus on timely management of the stakeholder and supplier needs.
Strong knowledge and experience in handling and controlling change within a project environment, including strong experience of contractual change control processes.
Experience in undertaking, and successfully concluding, difficult commercial conversations with both internal stakeholders and external parties as well as contractual dispute resolution within a commercial environment.
Strong planning, organising and communications skills with the ability to convey complex or technical information at the right level so that it is understood.
Strong Commercial acumen background with the ability to negotiate and provide good value for money solutions.
Highly numerate with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Understanding of budget management principles and practice.
Good Technology Vendor management skills
MCIPS or IACCM or Legal or any other commercial qualification
Experience within a virtual team with the ability to drive dependent activities to a conclusion in order to achieve project objectives.
Exposure to a large Programme environment would be beneficial, including awareness of AGILE project management and development methodologies.
Banking experience is desirable but not essential.
Experience in large Finance/payments systems from a contractual perspective.
Knowledge of project and risk management techniques.
Specific knowledge of the structure and challenges of IT contracts both for goods, licenses and services (e.g. software as a service).
Understanding of the complexity of the commercial services that underpin Bank activities.
