TYPICAL ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES
As one of our Agile Business Analyst contractors, you will carry out a wide range of activities that include:
Leading and managing investigations into business processes, functions, information flows, data structures and software development processes, using various methodical and consistent techniques
Defining improvements to business processes, whilst evaluating potential solutions based on the impacts across the organisation
Leading, understanding and communicating the bigger picture whilst working to assure that the overall goal is maintained in creation of the product backlog, but also working at a detailed level during sprints and iterations
Influencing, facilitating and communicating to help provide solutions to real business problems
Eliciting requirements using appropriate techniques
Delivering at pace using agile methodologies and principles
Creating requirements documentation to high standards. Using modelling techniques, considering requirement management and traceability back to source, adherence to business objectives and their fitness for purpose
Assisting decision makers in gathering information to make informed decisions
Helping to quality assure test solutions and products
Actively participating in the Business Analysis community to refine and develop standards and working practices, and to share knowledge
Travelling to other sites will be required
Person Specification
Competent in requirements capture and elicitation using a wide range of techniques, such as workshops, shadowing, use cases, user stories, product backlogs, etc
Experienced in problem solving and understanding any associated impacts
Expert at communicating effectively with both non-technical and technical staff to precisely define requirements, including communicating with the development team to ensure they have a complete understanding of the business and user needs
Expert at written communication, with work presented in a clear, precise and logical way
Expert at making sure end user perspectives are fully considered by the content and technical design team, and ensuring that those needs continue to be met throughout the solution development
Competent at understanding organisational and wider government strategic objectives and ensure that solutions are aligned to them – assessing the impact when strategies change
Proficient in adding value by showing curiosity and challenging the status quo
You will be either:
Be ISEB accreditation in one or more of the following:
Business analysis essentials
Requirements engineering
Modelling business processes
Systems Modelling Techniques using UML
Systems Development essentials
Foundation certificate in IT-enabled business change (at least 1 module).
And/or:
• Experience of business or systems analysis working in an agile, project-based environment, including identification of business benefits, deconstructing user needs, business process modelling, requirements capture and prioritisation, and willing to undertake ISEB accreditation.
