- The Client:
A government department client is looking for a Litter Prevention & Enforcement Lead to join them on a 12 month contract. This position will be based in Bristol, London, Newcastle or York (3 days per week).
Job Summary:
We are looking for a secondee from a local authority or a community organisation or NGO to join our interdisciplinary team working on litter prevention, enforcement, and waste crime policy. This is a unique chance to bring your operational experience and community perspective to influence national policy and programme design.
What you’ll do:
- Bring local insight: Ensure community and local authority perspectives are embedded in policies for litter prevention, enforcement, and tackling waste crime.
- Shape delivery models: Make sure local delivery approaches are reflected in programme design and implementation.
- Apply operational expertise: Help us design policies that are pragmatic, fit for purpose, and effective in real-world settings.
- Collaborate and innovate: Work with colleagues across disciplines to challenge assumptions and introduce new ideas.
You will have deep knowledge and experience in one or more of:
- Local authority waste and recycling operations, including litter enforcement and community engagement.
- Tackling waste crime and fly-tipping prevention strategies.
- Designing and delivering litter prevention campaigns or enforcement programmes.
While we are most interested in you bringing your knowledge and expertise to our work, we would expect secondees to be able to demonstrate an aptitude for:
- Developing policy proposals: define the issue to be addressed, devise options, source an evidence base, engage stakeholders, and recommend a preferred option, all involving preparation of papers and presentations.
