A government department client is looking for a Waste Crime Enforcement Expert to join them on a 12 month contract. This position will be based in Bristol, London, Newcastle or York.
Job Summary:
We are seeking an expert in waste crime enforcement to join our interdisciplinary team working on waste crime policy and compliance frameworks.
This is a unique opportunity to bring your operational enforcement experience to influence national policy and programme design.
What you’ll do:
- Advise on enforcement frameworks: Help shape national and local enforcement approaches, identifying gaps and opportunities to strengthen compliance and deter illegal waste activity.
- Apply operational expertise: Ensure policies and programmes are pragmatic, fit for purpose, and effective in real-world enforcement contexts.
- Collaborate and innovate: Work with colleagues across disciplines to challenge assumptions and introduce new ideas.
What we’re looking for: You will have deep knowledge and experience in one or more of:
- Waste crime enforcement and compliance, including investigation and prosecution processes.
- Designing and delivering enforcement strategies at local or national level.
- Working with multi-agency partnerships to tackle illegal waste activity.
- While we are most interested in you bringing your knowledge and expertise to our work, we would expect secondees to be able to demonstrate an aptitude for:
- Developing policy proposals: define the issue to be addressed, devise options, source an evidence base, engage stakeholders, and recommend a preferred option, all involving preparation of papers and presentations.
- Thinking strategically and programmatically: situate their individual work within the context of a wider programme, and contribute to defining the long-term goal of the wider programme.
- Working collaboratively: we are an interdisciplinary directorate and have a one team ethos.
- Innovate: we are open to, and want our secondees to bring, new ideas and constructive challenge to our work.
- Developing policy proposals: define the issue to be addressed, devise options, source an evidence base, engage stakeholders, and recommend a preferred option, all involving preparation of papers and presentations.
