- The Client:
A government department client is looking for a Regulatory Specialist to join them on a 6 month contract. This position will be based in London/ Hybrid.
Job Summary:
Experience of drafting complex submissions from a variety of different sources of information.
Experience of working to strict deadlines with a large volume of information. Experience of dealing with legal and regulatory affairs with material consequences.
This is part of Justice Digital, Data and Science. The unit is responsible for building and maintaining digital and IT solutions which enable the agency to meet their statutory requirement to administer the legal aid fund in England and Wales.
Role Purpose:
To support the preparation of high-quality, accurate, and defensible responses to regulatory requests by coordinating input from across JDDS. Ensuring that evidence and answers are properly gathered and validated via legal and SME input before submission.
Key Responsibilities:
Regulatory Response Coordination
- Coordinate end-to-end delivery of responses to regulatory enquiries from the perspective of Justice Digital Data and Science.
- Track deadlines, dependencies, and progress across multiple concurrent requests.
- Maintain a clear audit trail of inputs, decisions, and approvals from SMEs, legal and senior leadership.
Evidence Gathering & Synthesis
- Identify required inputs and evidence from relevant teams (e.g. security, platform, product teams.
- Engage subject matter experts to gather accurate and complete information.
- Consolidate inputs into structured, coherent draft responses.
- Challenge inconsistencies, gaps, or unclear statements.
Stakeholder Management
- Act as a central point of contact between digital teams, senior stakeholders, and legal.
- Follow-up proactively to ensure timely contributions.
- Translate regulatory questions into clear internal asks.
- Support senior stakeholders in reviewing and refining responses.
Quality Assurance & Governance
- Ensure all responses meet internal standards for accuracy, tone, and completeness.
- Manage version control and document integrity.
- Support sign-off processes, ensuring appropriate approvals are obtained.
- Documentation & Continuous Improvement.
- Maintain templates, playbooks, and response frameworks.
- Capture lessons learned from regulatory interactions.
- Help improve internal processes for future responses.
Essential:
- Strong written communication skills, with the ability to synthesise complex information clearly.
- Excellent organisational and project management skills.
- Ability to work with multiple stakeholders and manage competing priorities.
- High attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
- Confidence in handling sensitive information.
Desirable:
- Familiarity with regulatory processes, audits, or investigations.
- Experience working with legal or compliance teams.
- Background in policy, risk, compliance, or governance.
An active SC clearance is required for this role. At a minimum, candidates must be eligible and willing to undergo security clearance. Due to the short-term nature of the contract and the urgency of the requirement, the client may prioritise applicants who already hold active SC clearance and meet all essential criteria.
