- The Client:
A government client is looking for a Commercial Officer to join them on a 6 month contract. This position will be based in London/ Hybrid.
Job Summary:
- Relevant commercial experience and strong understanding of the commercial / procurement lifecycle. This includes knowledge and / or awareness of public procurement procedures (e.g. Procurement Act 2023, PcR 2015 or a similar statutory framework and contract law)
- Experience in conducting the end-to-end procurement process across an area of responsibility taking into consideration the complexity, value & strategic importance, and use of appropriate key commercial tools.
- Good commercial awareness and strong analytical skills to perform commercial analysis on spend and market data, extract key insights, and deliver well-justified recommendations that support strategic decision-making and problem-solving.
- Ability to work as part of a matrix team structure to support performance, manage setbacks and resolve issues internally.
- Ability to communicate with stakeholders at all levels using different communication styles to articulate the best procurement approach, responsibilities for delivery and benefits that have been achieved and to establish governance and relationship arrangements.
- Ability to manage internal governance and support risk controls (including cyber, personnel and physical risks) within your category, and apply standards that help tackle corruption, fraud and unethical behaviour in supply chains, taking appropriate action in the event of any alleged breach of standards.
- Experience is desirable in International Finance programmes, including structuring development finance procurements, assessing financial and contractual risk, navigating public procurement frameworks, and advising stakeholders to ensure compliant, value finance procurements, assessing financial and contractual risk, navigating public procurement frameworks, and advising stakeholders to ensure compliant, value for money commercial decisions across complex, high-risk funding and investment models.
An active SC clearance is required for this role. At a minimum, candidates must be eligible and willing to undergo security clearance. Due to the short-term nature of the contract and the urgency of the requirement, the client may prioritise applicants who already hold active SC clearance and meet all essential criteria.
