Job Summary:

Legal Aid Agency Digital (LAAD) is transforming services that help people access legal aid, while strengthening cyber resilience, improving delivery planning and driving better value for money across the agency. LAAD works at the heart of a high-profile environment where digital services support critical justice outcomes and are subject to significant external scrutiny. As a Private Secretary: Technical Lead, you will support the Chief of Staff and Director and operate close to senior decision-making, coordinating priorities, managing complex stakeholder relationships, providing high-quality briefings, tracking delivery, and applying sound judgement in a fast-paced environment. Success requires initiative, excellent communication, strong organisation and confidence working with technical, financial and governance matters.

Skills & experience required bullet points:

  • Strong ability to work with autonomy and adapt confidently in a fast-paced and evolving environment.

  • A proactive and thoughtful approach, with the confidence to use initiative while contributing to collective outcomes.

  • Well-developed leadership skills, including the ability to motivate others, create cohesion and sustain momentum

  • Excellent organisational and prioritisation skills, with the ability to balance competing demands and deliver a quality service

  • Confidence in engaging senior stakeholders, including the ability to manage upwards constructively and with sensitivity.

  • Strong relationship-building skills, with an emphasis on trust, collaboration, and influence.

  • Sound judgement, with the ability to navigate complexity, manage risk, and offer practical, well-considered solutions.

  • Highly effective communication skills, with the ability to convey messages clearly, thoughtfully, and with impact.

  • Comfort working with detailed or technical subject matter, e.g. Oracle or similar systems, or in a digital context in a large-scale operation.

  • Experience or awareness of working within a Private Office or similarly fast-paced, senior-facing environment.

  • Understanding of organisational strategy, governance, and operating context.

An active SC clearance is required for this role. At a minimum, candidates must be eligible and willing to undergo security clearance. Due to the short-term nature of the contract and the urgency of the requirement, the client may prioritise applicants who already hold active SC clearance and meet all essential criteria.
