A government client is looking for a Corporate Support Manager to join them on a 6 month contract. This position will be based in  London/ Hybrid.

Job Summary:
To provide operational leadership and people management for the Executive Support and Business Support teams, ensuring the delivery of a consistent, responsive and high-quality support service during a period of organisational transition. The post holder will lead team performance, address people-related challenges, manage operational priorities and provide stability, accountability and effective day-to-day management across the function.
Key Accountabilities:
People Management and Team Performance (30%)
- Lead, manage and support a team of Executive Support Officers and Business Support Officers.
- Take responsibility for performance management, attendance, conduct and capability matters.
- Hold difficult conversations where required and address underperformance appropriately.
- Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration and continuous improvement.
Operational Leadership and Service Delivery (25%)
- Provide day-to-day operational leadership of the Corporate Support function.
- Ensure workloads are effectively managed and priorities are coordinated.
- Maintain consistent delivery of support services across the organisation.
- Act as the escalation point for operational issues and ensure timely resolution of service delivery challenges.
Resource Planning and Matrix Management (15%)
- Coordinate resources across the Corporate Support function within a matrix management environment.
- Ensure work is appropriately allocated while maintaining line management responsibility.
- Work closely with directors and senior stakeholders to balance competing priorities and respond to changing business needs.
Operational Oversight and Business Support Services (15%)
- Oversee the delivery of key business support activities, including travel and accommodation arrangements, administrative services and operational processes.
- Ensure activities are delivered efficiently, consistently and in accordance with organisational policies and procedures.
Stakeholder Management and Problem Resolution (10%)
- Build effective working relationships with senior leaders and stakeholders.
- Provide practical solutions to operational challenges.
- Exercise sound judgement when dealing with sensitive issues.
- Ensure concerns are escalated and resolved appropriately.
Budget and Governance Responsibilities (5%)
- Act as a budget holder for designated areas of responsibility.
- Authorise expenditure and ensure resources are used effectively and in line with organisational controls.
Key Working Relationships
The post holder will work closely with directors, senior leaders and corporate service colleagues to ensure effective operational support across the organisation. They will provide line management to Executive Support Officers and Business Support Officers while operating within a matrix management environment where work priorities are allocated by directors and senior stakeholders. The role requires credibility, diplomacy and the ability to build strong relationships with a wide range of stakeholders.
Additional Role Information
This is an interim management role created to provide dedicated operational leadership and people management for the Corporate Support function while a permanent appointment is made. The role is primarily focused on team leadership, service delivery and operational management rather than providing direct executive support.
The successful candidate will directly manage:
- 2 Executive Support Officers
- 3 Business Support Officers
Person Specification:
Essential Experience:
- Proven experience of managing administrative, business support or corporate support teams.
- Significant experience of people management, including attendance, performance, conduct and capability management.
- Experience of working in a matrix management environment.
- Experience of managing competing priorities and operational workloads.
- Experience of building effective relationships with senior stakeholders.
Essential Skills:
- Strong leadership and team management skills.
- Ability to hold difficult conversations and address performance issues effectively.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong organisational and resource planning capability.
- Sound problem-solving and decision-making skills.
Essential Knowledge:

- Experience working within a public sector or regulated environment.
- Relevant management qualification or equivalent experience.
