- The Client:
Our government department client is looking for a Specialist Analyst to join them on a 6 month contract. This position will be hybrid, Newport, Titchfield or Darlington.
Job Summary:
- Maintain effective working relationships with regional partners, including local government, central government, and other organisations, in addition to engaging with teams across the ONS and wider civil service.
- Support in gathering user needs for analytical and other projects by engaging with local partners and looking to align priorities across the wider ONS Local teams.
- Select suitable statistical techniques and where appropriate, combine alternative data sources with existing data sets, or looking to collect new data, to produce impactful analysis, contributing to high-profile policy areas.
- Respond to queries from stakeholders about ONS and other data sets and analysis, liaising with ONS colleagues as needed including relaying user requirements.
- Network externally and assist networking between parties where beneficial.
- Champion best practice when producing analytical outputs, embedding appropriate quality assurance processes and producing comprehensive documentation to ensure reproducibility and the delivery of high-quality and insight.
- Consider the audience when communicating analytical findings, adapting presentation style where necessary to cater for both technical and non-technical users.
- Engage with the wider analytical network within government to keep abreast of new research techniques.
- Log activities and outputs, such as user requests and stakeholder meetings to track ONS Local’s service and associated Key Performance Indicators.
