Key tasks and deliverables
1. To arrange and conduct vetting investigations and interviews in accordance with the UKSV Single Vetting Process, Vetting Officer (VO) Standard Instructions on conduct and write up of interviews.
1.HOME WORKER
The primary role of the Vetting Officer is to conduct vetting interviews on behalf of UKSV. The information obtained at interview provides a significant contribution towards the security assessment of the suitability of a person to have authorised access to sensitive government information and protectively marked assets. Vetting interviews are undertaken with individuals at all levels across the MOD, Government Departments, Police Forces, Government Contractors and members of the general public. The role involves interviewing individuals by telephone, and very occasionally face-to-face - which might require travel to official establishments and private homes (advance notice of travel usually given). The job holder will be required to write up the interviews in reports as per the Vetting Officer's Standard Instructions. Their report should provide a fair and upbiased assessment/recommendation in the format required, and to a stated quality standard. They will be set a required number of interviews and reports to be completed on a weekly basis, and will be expected to manage and organise their time efficiently to deliver the required outputs. Mandatory requirements/experience: - Recent investigative interviewing experience (within the last two years); - Experience of report/paper writing; - Have good interpersonal skills and the ability to put people at their ease; - Willingness to undergo National Security Vetting (if security clearance not already held). Desirable requirements: - PIP Level 2 qualified or equivalent; - Good IT skills, particularly familiarity with Microsoft Office products (including Outlook and Word); - An understanding of risk, and analytical skills; - Previous experience working within the Civil Service; 1.
