Plugged In: Resource Augmentation
Over the summer, I’ve had a few conversations with Digital and Transformation leads all circling the same issue: how do you bring in extra capacity quickly, without losing direction or getting buried in commercial process?
Increasingly, Resource Augmentation is coming up as a practical solution. It’s not new, but it has certainly matured. Within the RM6288 Workforce Solutions framework, RA is now a credible route to bring in specialist resource fast, while staying fully compliant and in control. No outsourcing. No long procurement timelines. Just experienced professionals embedded in your team, working to your outcomes.
So far, we’ve seen it used well across digital delivery, project leadership, commercial functions and OD. It works especially well where agile ways of working demand flexibility, but the pressure to deliver and to account for every pound is critical.
At Malikshaw, we are still learning how to get the most out of RA for our clients. It’s a space that is evolving quickly, and we are working closely with PSR, suppliers and delivery teams to understand how it can be used most effectively — not just to fill gaps, but to add real value.
The benefit is less about novelty and more about how seamlessly it fits with how transformation teams actually work. SAP Fieldglass gives transparency on assignments and spend, PSR manages onboarding and compliance, and you stay focused on delivery. No drama. No noise. Just capability where and when you need it.
This won’t be the right approach for every situation. But for urgent delivery gaps where keeping direction and control matters, it’s a useful tool to have in your back pocket. If you are unsure how it could apply in your context, whether you are leading a programme or looking for your next role, we are well placed to talk it through.
